After three full days of researching, sourcing and shopping with my clients from Auckland’s Britomart to Ponsonby (and navigating the ever changing Newmarket) my initial impression of the new season’s colour palette is to note is how much pink is on show, stores are filled with pinks... every shade of pink imaginable from ballet nudes to deep terra-cotta pinks, to pale shades of mushroom. Streetwear from the understated and effortless ‘Huffer’ featuring great sweatshirts and pink denim jackets, the dreamy high end pallet at both of the Muse boutiques, featuring ‘Victoria Beckham’ and ‘Christopher Esber’ and great Kiwi knits at Area 51 from ‘Standard Issue’.

Anyone that has a daughter under ten, will most probably have an initial aversion to pink but I suggest to push through that five year old saccharine tone your thinking of and you will be surprised, the shades on the racks have a more muted grown up tone to them. Pinks can work beautifully with charcoals, taupes and chocolate shades especially during the winter months.

I personally love pairing pink with khaki, sand and charcoal to take the ‘prettiness’ away - try a grown up shade of pink this season and you might be pleasantly surprised and even like it!
