Auckland touch-down and the Americans
Landing back in Auckland is always surreal when you have left cold climes to be greeted by warm and your days are nights and vice versa - the downside of long haul travel, and you can only comprehend this slightly odd state by traveling huge distances over several time zones, generally left for the lucky antipodeans. Almost everyone I spoke to in Dublin could not even comprehend doing it, but it’s part of our culture and in our DNA. Isolation drives this and funds permitting we even take children that far! Hence, I’m up at 3am getting the first round of copy up for my new site…
And, as is the way of my world, a pre-shop for some visiting American clients is required prior to their visit with me as the guide - I’m looking forward to it already.
Auckland’s Britomart area was buzzing in a casual, sticky and relaxed vibe while I wandered and chatted to the great retail staff showcasing their new winter season’s stock as it arrives in force. The Kiwi designers have their stores looking beautiful I must say.
